Collection consists of tapes and transcripts of interviews, legal agreements, photographs and other background material. Also included are videotapes of Irish immigrants, showing a wedding, a Boston-area boat race, and a rehearsal by the New Irish Theater Company at Boston College.

The Irish Immigration Reform Movement (IIRM) was a grassroots organization established in 1987 whose primary objective was to legalize the status of undocumented immigrants from Ireland and 34 other countries adversely affected by America’s 1965 Immigration Act. The IIRM ceased activities in 1992. O'Carroll was born in County Offaly, Ireland, and taught in Cork for a number of years before moving to Boston, Mass., in 1986. A founder of the Irish Women in Boston group, she also set up a media collective, Trasna na dTonnta--Across the Waves, and has been a consultant to film, television, and radio documentaries on Ireland.
